Five expensive ways to find jobs in Augusta:
1) Invite the employer to a round of golf
Augusta is filled with beautiful golf courses and is also famous for the Augusta Masters Tournament. With that said, many of our Augusta business owners also enjoy a relaxing game of golf with friends, families and close associates. As a job seeker, it is possible to invite your potential boss to a round of golf and allowing them the opportunity to get to know you. A great idea if time and money is not your biggest concern however, I strongly discourage this for all the non golfers.
2) Invite them to lunch or dinner
Ahh, the American second favorites pass time. Well, for those of us who love to eat,
Augusta also houses several beautiful restaurants that are sure to make an impression on your potential boss. Simple find a great restaurant like Bonefish Grill, Sconyers Bar-B-Que, or Sixth At Watkins and schedule a private dining exclusive for the decision makers of the job you are seeking. Just one thing; make sure you have enough cash to feed a big appetite.
3) Get a billboard
A billboard is a perfect way to get your message across locally. Billboards are very popular in Augusta and can also be very expensive depending on the traffic volume and location you are look to advertise. Buy yourself a billboard with a simple message, “I need a Job.” You may want to include your qualifications and contact information. This will surely get you some immediate responses however could be very costly to find the right employer.
4) Hire a “Job Finder”
A “Job Finder” in my book is someone who you hire to find you a job. They will do the work for you that you either do not have time or energy to partake in. A “Job Finder” should distribute your resumes for you, schedule job interviews, and even negotiate salary on your behalf. However, just like all the above ideas, this could be very costly to landing the right
job in Augusta.
5) Organize a job hunt party
Setting up a “Job Hunt Party” is my favorite idea. You simple coordinate a party for all potential employers looking for candidates in your field and position yourself as the subject matter expertise. Of course, you will probably have potential job seekers riding on your skirt tail however, it is fine. If all works well, every potential employer will know you are the number one choice from other candidates attending the party. This probable works best for media and marketing jobs since your
Augusta Job Hunt Party will revolve around marketing the idea.
For those of you who prefer the typical methods of finding a job, continue to submit
job applications, attend job fairs, and continue networking; eventually it will work.
